Field Furniture

2026
Field Furniture is a site-responsive installation inviting close encounters with the wildflower meadows of the Australian Drylands at Royal Botanic Gardens Melbourne.
Handmade from locally sourced and reclaimed materials, including harakeke from RBGV’s living collection, the furniture combines handcrafted joinery with traditional weaving techniques to create pieces that are tactile and respond to a changing climate.
The furniture offers a place to slow down—to sense the grasses below, the canopies above and attune to the plants, birds and pollinators that share the landscape.
This work was commissioned by Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria as part of Design X Nature, presented by Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria in association with Melbourne Fringe and RMIT University.
